#2 Overdrive Ring and Pinion Gear
In off-road driving/racing (4WD) you want the front to pull the vehicle. The lower the grip – The more you want the front to pull. This keeps the truck more stable (keeps the front end more planted) and easier to drive.
There is 1-2-3 way you can do this. #1 Get the overdrive for the front. (The truck will have a bit more wheel speed) #2 Get the underdrive for the rear. (It will drive the same as #1 but with less wheel speed and more torque). #3 Get overdrive for the front (#1) and underdrive for the rear (#2) = (#3) (This will give you more front wheel speed and should be better if you are only crawling or on lower grip surfaces).
Where to buy… both Overdrive 8287 and Underdrive 8288 are on Amazon — On eBay You could get the aftermarket one for a bit less but in this case, the Traxxas ones are higher rated.

#3 Brass Drive Housing
This is the best weight upgrade. The TRX-4 is top-heavy and this adds weight to the lowest part of the truck and directly over the tire. which would aid in stability, stop rollovers, and add grip.
Note: Many times these are sold in (2) and really the most performance gain with 2 in the front – but you should try (4) to keep your truck more planted.
Where to buy… one of the best is Treal Brass Drive Housing but it’s a little much – you could buy (4) for the same price as (2) Treal (Benedict Harry Brass Drive Housing) and not lacking that far behind in quality. Full list on Amazon — on eBay

#4 Brass Extended Wheel Hubs
This is one of the best upgrades to stop you from rolling on your side. You might need to cut your body and it makes the truck look less realistic for the tires stick out the side of the body.
Note: I would not cheap out on the hub side. If you do you can risk things wearing out or not working right for long. especially if you’re going over 5mm.
Recommendations… +15mm Treal – +10mm Treal – If you’re going for +5mm really any on the list will work Amazon list — eBay list.

#5 Brass Caster Blocks Portal Drive C Hub
Very similar to the gain you get from the #3 (Brass Drive Housing) but not as good. Like #4 (Brass Extended Wheel Hubs) you don’t want to cheap out and have slop in your steering. So at #5, I would say skip out if you don’t like the high price of Treal Brass Caster Blocks or you could risk the other on the list at a lower price… Amazon list — eBay list.

How can I make my TRX-4 crawl better?
The best upgrade to make your TRX-4 crawl better is tires. #2 would be to add wheel weight – This will not only get you more grip but also make the truck more stable by lowering the center of gravity (CoG).
Is the Traxxas TRX-4 waterproof?
Yes, the TRX-4 is waterproof but you will be shorting the life of the components of your truck also I would use sprays like WD-40 to help stop rust after each run in the water.
Where can I put a Traxxas lipo battery in Traxxas TRX-4?
The TRX-4 has a slot just behind the front bumper to place the battery. This location gives you the most performance and stability when claiming.
If you do some modding you can mount the battery even lower in the chassis to get more performance gains.
