Step-by-Step Process

Preparation: Start by removing the shock from your RC vehicle. Clean the shock thoroughly, paying special attention to the threads on both the shock body and the cap. Use a clean cloth to remove any dirt, oil, or debris.
Applying the Tape: Take the Teflon tape and carefully wrap it around the threads of the shock body. Apply 2 layers of tape (if you can), making sure to wrap in the same direction as the threads. This is crucial for ensuring a proper seal when the cap is screwed on.
Wrapping Technique: As you wrap the tape, maintain slight tension to ensure it conforms to the shape of the threads. Be careful not to apply too much tape, as this can prevent the cap from threading properly.
Trimming: Once you’ve wrapped the threads, carefully tear or cut the tape, I use scissors ensuring there are no loose ends that could interfere with the cap’s installation.
Reassembly: Carefully screw the shock cap back onto the body. The Teflon tape will compress slightly as you tighten the cap, creating a snug seal that helps prevent oil leakage.
Final Check: After reassembling the shock, gently squeeze it to check for any immediate leaks. If everything looks good, reattach the shock to your RC vehicle.
