Hobbywing EZRun MAX10 G2 140 Amp / 3665SD Motor Combo

Top Upgrade Over Stock

ESC
– Nearly the same ESC as #1 just ever beefed up to handle more power
2-4S LiPo
– 140A/880A – Cont./Peak Current

Recommend Motor (2400kV)
– Everything will run cooler and last longer on 2/3s lipo
– The ability to show off speed on 4s LiPo

Recommend Motor on 2s (4000kV)
– The 2400kV motor might be kinda slow on 2s
– The 4000Kv will get you the speed you need on 2s (it can run on 3s as well to get more speed)

Note: both motors have more power than stock which will increase the chances of braking parts.

#1 Hobbywing EZRun MAX10 G2 80 Amp / 3652SD Motor Combo

s l1600

This is essentially a direct replacement for the Associated MT10 but with a bunch more features.

The recommendation: is to get the 3300kV motor!!! – it has more bottom-end power to turn the bigger wheels and you can run 3s if you want more speed. The 4100kV and the 5400kV will have more RPM but might run a bit hot, you’ll need better batteries for longer run time and to handle the amp rate. The 5400kV can only handle 2s.

Where to buy:

on Amazon – EzRun Max10 G2 80A ESCHobbywing EZRun 3652 Motor

on eBay – All combos(both ESC and Motor)

  • Sensored interface (much better control in low RPM over stock)
  • 32 degrees timing (giving nearly 25% more RPM vs 0 degrees)
  • The fan that only cuts on when needed (saves power and cools the system)
  • capacitor capacitance is 74% more (should give more power down low and less overloading the ESC)
  • This + Combine with other integrated technology its temps are nearly 25c lower (should last much longer)
  • Mobile app + Bluetooth = real-time data on how your ESC and Motor is running
  • And all system on this list is Waterproof!

#2 Hobbywing EZRun MAX10 G2 140 Amp / 3665SD Motor Combo

s l1600

This is a full-out upgrade over stock. The motor has a bigger can which makes more torque and the ability to run on 4s – this will make your ride stupid fast.

The recommendation: unlike on top, this motor is a bit overkill, and should handle the weight, big wheels with any combo you get. The 4000kV will be the fastest on 2-3s lipo but you will have lower run times. The 3200kV is in the middle of the road with 2-3s lipo. (If I was to buy this combo for a monster truck – I would get 2400kV!!! mainly because you will get longer runtimes on 2-3s (still with good speed and power) and if you want to show off you have the ability to run 4s!!!)

Where to buy:

On Amazon – EZRUN MAX10 G2 140A 3665 SD G3 Motor

On eBay – All Combo (Both ESC and Motor)

  • Basically, the same features as the #1 system
  • Bigger motor and ESC that can handle 4s
  • Note: this has a bigger 5mm motor shaft – you will need to buy a 5mm pion gear (this makes the car more durable – if it had the stock size shaft it would be more likely to snap)

#3 Spektrum RC Firma 85 Amp / 3300Kv Kv Motor

71 1JEyLUoL. AC SL1500

A budget-friendly ver. of #1 on the list but you lose some key features.

The recommendation: only get the 3300Kv – any higher Kv setup with this might put too much stress on the ESC in a monster truck.

Where to buy:

On Amazon – for the ESC and Motor Combo

On eBay – for the ESC and Motor Combo

  • The main one – It’s a sensorless system (you lose low RPM control)
  • Should be easier to set up and cost less than #1 on the list. features:

Honorable Mention – Hobbywing QuicRun Fusion SE 2-in-1 System

s l1600

I would only buy this if you’re on a budget or you want to slow down your car. It is by far the best value system on the market today but it is more intended to trail trucks and rock crawlers.

The recommendation: The 1200Kv system you can usually get at a lower price and the one I would go with on a pure budget but you probably want more speed the 1800Kv would be the better pick if you had the money.

Where to Buy: for 1200Kv and for 1800kv

On Amazon – 1800kv (both ESC and Motor) and 1200Kv

On eBay – for both

  • The ESC and Motor is hard to beat for the price
  • The cheapest way to get your Rival MT10 bat on the road, still be Waterproof and run 3s max.
