TT-02 2WD vs. Mini-T 2.0 2WD

I wanted to see how the TT-02 would stack up against my Losi Mini-T 2.0, with both cars running 2WD and the same tire setup.

I thought that would put them on a pretty even playing field.

It didn’t.

A few things stood out:

Speed: The Mini-T was noticeably faster and handled the tracks better.
Soft dirt: On the second track, the dirt was extremely soft and dry. The TT-02 struggled to keep moving, while the Mini-T had no problem.
Ground clearance: This was probably the Mini-T’s biggest advantage. It stayed on top of the loose dirt instead of digging into it.
Chassis: The Mini-T’s shorter wheelbase, lighter weight, and chassis kick-up all helped it handle the soft surface.
TT-02: Its lower, heavier chassis and lack of kick-up worked against it in the soft dirt.
Track results: The TT-02 may have had an advantage on a straightaway, but the Mini-T won on both dirt-track layouts.

What I Learned: A 2WD TT-02 isn’t really a fair match for a car designed from the ground up for 2WD dirt driving.

Front Tires: HobbyMarking Rally — good rally tire for dirt
Rear Tires: RcThjia 1/18 Monster Truck — extra-wide tires that fit and helped with 2WD traction
